I had to get up early today as I was checking out, it was my last day in Boston and I had to wait till about 1.30am for my bus to Montreal so I had the whole day to kill. In the evening, I signed myself up for going to the museum for free, the hostel was having another special night, they have something organised for every night of the week. Today was going to be a day of beer, I looked up what time the breweries have tours or tastings and I went to them accordingly. I could only find information on the Samuel Adams and the Harpoon brewery so I just went to them. I went to Sam Adams first, it is a way away from the hostel, I had to get a couple of trains to get there, then walk a fair bit. The brewery is in a really run down neighbourhood with some art school in the middle of it. When I got there I had to wait a bit so I sat down and waited. As it got closer to time, the tour group started to get bigger and bigger, then it was time. I didn't learn anything new as I already have all the knowledge about beer and brewing, to be honest I was only going to sample the beers and I wasn't the biggest fan of Samuel Adams beers. The only reason I went was because it was free. When we had the tasting session, all it did was confirm my suspicions, I really don't like Samuel Adams beers, there's something wrong with them. They can't just be normal, they have to have a little too much hops, or too much flavour when all they have ended up doing is making beer that tastes really awful far too specific. I would love to like them but I can't, I really like their philosophy about beer and how their run, I just hate the beer. I left and headed straight for the Harpoon brewery on the docks, it was far but I could get a near enough direct bus from one of the train stations on the way. The brewery was literally across the road from the bus stop so I didn't have to walk far. I noticed a lobster restaurant right next to it so I thought I might try some lobster, I had never had any before and Boston is probably one of the best places to try it as it is famous for its lobster.
