I was very hungry and wanted to save some money so went to find a supermarket, I got directions but completely forgot them, I started walking for ages and ages and ages with no luck. I decided to walk back towards the hostel and go by the rough directions I was given and remembered. I found a park, I remember being told to go over the park and its right there. I saw a man with bags from there so I asked him for directions, he said it was just around the corner, would you know it, it was. Only problem was in there, was that I wanted bread to make some sandwiches, they had no bread and I had to wait about 30 minutes to get bread, then some ham and some cheese, then the more important task of buying beer. Shopping sorted I got in a queue at the checkouts, I never knew that the queue would take over 30 minutes, I ended up being in there for over an hour!
Whilst I was queuing I randomly bumped into somebody that I met at the airport, he was on the same plane as me coming out to Santiago. He was studying Spanish as an exchange student from Scotland, he was staying in a hostel down the road from here and had just found an apartment for the 6 months he would be at university here. How random was it seeing him in the supermarket, I haven't seen him since passport control and now he's just in the same supermarket as me, I suppose he does live here now but its such a big city with so many people, what are the chances?
To avoid confusion and not to incur hidden costs I opted for beer in cans, it worked out really cheap too, it was the worst, cheapest crap tasting beer but it was cheap. Shopping done I headed back to the hostel to start drinking and eat obviously, some wonderful ham and cheese sandwiches.
