Now we were only about 170km from Los Vilos, even though it was our second day, we didn't mind, it had been an adventure so far especially for me as it was my first time.
At LlaiLlay there was a big toll bit on the Pan American which Dries tells me is a very good place to get rides from, nearly everybody is going long distance and are coming from a complete standstill or even parked up. In out case we weren't there long at all, a bloke in a car parked up having a smoke asked us where we were going, we said Los Vilos which was actually only planned to be a night time stop off point on the way to the beaches at Caldera, right in the north but nowhere near as far as Arica. He was actually going to a place called Capiopo which was right net to Caldera but Dries had a problem with his credit card do didn't really want to stray too far from the hostel. We were dropped off in Los Vilos, the road there was amazing, snaking right the way round some mountains and stopping off on the road about 50km outside Los Vilos we were treated to some of these really tasty caramel crème filled sweet pastries, lovely. So far everybody has been so good, it has been a complete pleasure to hitch hike and form my experiences so far I would recommended it to anyone, plus its free!!!
