When we arrived in Copacobana we had no accommodation so had to walk around and find a hostel, I had read a review on Copacobana and it said the best thing to do is look for somewhere with a lake view. First thing we did was head towards the lake, ask everywhere on the way. Most of the places had a competitive price of around $20/25 Bolivianos per night. One place that looked awful had a whopping price tag of $50 Bolivianos per nights, it was a basic hostel and there was nothing that warranted a price that high. At the lake side it looked as though there were only hotels and expensive looking places. We were walking along for a bit when a couple of Argentinians pointed out that there was a hostel about a fifteen minute walk along the lake for about $15 Bolivianos per night, we walked for a bit but couldn't be bothered. There was one place we hadn't looked at so far, it was back near the main road leading to the lake but it was close enough to the lake to have a nice lakeside view. It ended up being $15 Bolivianos per night which was perfect, even better considering the location, the room was massive also, it had five beds in it, enough for all of us, three Danes, an Israeli and myself, plus it has lots of windows all with fantastic views of the lake. The only problem with the room was that it had an unfinished bathroom in it, I didn't care because it was dirt cheap and had a good view, it was far enough away from the main street to be quiet but close enough as it not to be a far walk. We checked in to stay two nights, first night to chill out because we had just arrived and second night so we could relax after getting back from Isla del Sol. That night we all went out to get some food to eat and some beer to drink, we walked around for ages then eventually went in a restaurant, it was possibly the most expensive restaurant in the city. Luckily the portions were really big and the food tasted fantastic, local trout from the lake itself, yum yum yum. After food we headed back to the hostel via a shop to buy some beer, we found some, quite cheap but I thought I would try and barter to get the price down a bit, the shop owner would not budge at all, she wouldn't even knock off a few Bolivianos, I was bartering for the sake of about 30p.
