I was still trying to let my legs recover so was on a course of ibuprofen, plus I wasn't drinking, eating spicy food, too much sugar and salt and trying not to eat much meat in order to do my diet in preparation for my Ayuhuasca ceremony with a Shaman in Iquiotos, Peru. I managed to keep up this diet, I am quite proud of myself, I have resisted the temptation to have a beer now for nearly a week. The diet is okay, it is quite healthy and it is in a way helping to purify my body.
For this reason I haven't done much in Lima, we went out to the central market to have some famous Cerviche, raw fish and seafood with lemon juice, coriander and onion. It was okay, I had the same thing in Chile so it wasn't anything new, it is quite a big dish in South America, each country claims it as their own. I have picked up a liking for roasted corn kernels, halfway on the stage to becoming pop corn, very nice indeed. We walked around central for a bit, it was very loud, very polluted and not that great all in all. We got our tickets out of there, I got a ticket to Pucallpa, the town I need to go to in order to get a boat along the Amazon to Iquitos, I opted for the budget $45 Soles option, over the $80 direct comfort option. Giovanni got a ticket to Tubes on the Equadorian border. Went back to Barranco and chilled there. That night we met up with Giovanni's friends and one of their friends, had a drink of Fernet, some really bitter and personally I think is a disgusting liquor. The next day we went to another part of Lima on the southern side, went to a famous restaurant, or we were led to believe so, it has been on the cover of newspapers, magazines and has some recipes featured in a cook book. We had a set menu, soup, the nicest fish soup I have had, then I had a mix of Cerviche, much better than yesterdays and some fried seafood called chicharon. We had some more Chicha with the food. It was a good meal, the nicest I have eaten on the whole in a long time. We went along the beach for a bit, the girls went home and Giovanni and myself walked along to our hostel, it was only about thirty minutes so no problem at all.
I had another night in, fell asleep watching some crap film like the other nights.
