In Lima we waited near the bus terminal because Giovanni had called a friend of his and she was going to meet us around here. We went to a nearby restaurant that had a set menu for $4.50 soles, soup, fish or meat with chips and rice and fruit juice. The soup was by far the best we had had yet, the fish I got, was supposed to be trout but the lady explained that they had run out and was a whole mackerel instead, very nice and the fruit juice was Chicha Morada (purple corn), also very nice. Giovanni settled for his favourite Lomo Saltado, sliced meat fried with onions and peppers. His friend and her sister arrived whilst I had a mouthful of food, a very nice welcome from me. They were from Buenos Aires but were staying with their uncle or something in Lima. We went off to the more bohemian, less touristy are of Lima called Barranco. There was a little bit of a fuss with the driver as he was charging too much, then we agreed on $12 Soles which is apparently a lot, then he tried to claim he said $15 soles. He seemed like a nice guy though, he had a very worn leather looking face, the kind that would be really good to paint, really deep wrinkles and lots of them.
