Once at the top we all had to wait about forty minutes for the place to open, it was now poring down with rain, they opened the doors at 6.00am and we were early. We wanted to climb the mountain WaynaPicchu at the far end to get a good view of the whole valley so queued up for that, the mountain opened at 7.00 and closed at 9.00 then reopened again at 10.00. only four hundred people are allowed to climb it, two hundred at seven and two hundred at ten. I really didn't feel up to it and was perfectly content with just wondering around the main site. The guide we had was pretty boring and I didn't understand him properly so didn't really have a clue what was going on, he was speaking in English, just broken English with a very strong accent. I saw Giovanni walking past and the sun had just broken through the clouds, maybe by the time we got to the top it would be clear, also I doubt much people will bother considering the weather. There isn't much point in me describing it as I'm sure everybody knows what it looks like. We started our trek to the top, it was nothing compared to the Inca steps but was still tiring, my legs were really starting to hurt now so I took some paracetamol and some antihistamines to try and help. At the top the view was possibly the best I have ever seen, it was so good that we just stayed up there for about an hour, we needed to get down soonish though, about half and hour getting down to MachuPicchu then another hour getting to the bottom of the Inca steps and to the train station. We got down early, went to the market got some bread, some ham and some cheese and made ourselves some sandwiches whilst waiting for the train, unfortunately we had accidentally bought brioche so the bread was sweet and the sandwiches tasted a little funny but we were hungry so no problem.
My legs were hurting so badly now I could barely walk, my ankle had swollen so much my leg went straight down from my calf to my toes, no tapering or shape at all. I had the train for a moments respite, and some more paracetamol to help ease the pain.
