It was very easy to get us so early, I suppose I had slept well, was tired from the walk and it was the second day that I had to get up so early. My legs were killing though, I looked at them and my left ankle had swollen quite a bit, I didn't think much of it and was more concerned about getting to MachuPicchu in time to beat the rush. When we got outside the weather was shit, it was drizzling and very cloudy, it was also still pitch black as it was only 4.00am. We walked for about twenty minutes till we got to a bridge, crossed the bridge and there were the Inca steps leading all the way up to MachuPicchu. Luckily I had my phone with its bright light for taking videos so we could see where we were going. Nobody knew how long and steep or how high up the steps would go, all we knew was that we had been told it would take an hour and a half to get to the top. There was an option for lazy bastards to get a bus that cost $7 US and drove straight to the entrance. Walking was a good experience, if you are going to do something you have to do it properly. The walk went on and on and on up these steps, some were ridiculously steep, plus it had started raining a little heavier now. I stormed off again, I have a habit of doing that on hikes now, can't help it, going slow just doesn't work for me. I kept on checking to see if Giovanni was behind, he was close enough so every so often he would stop and drink or rest, I would have the odd drink on the way up but wanted to get to the top as soon as I could. The final straight was the worst, it has the most steps, the worst steps and it was wet and slippery now.
