As it was so hot day, but was quite nice to be out, I decided I should go to central park to chill out rather than going back and doing nothing at the hostel. I took my book and my ipod and sat down reading in the shade, it was far too hot to be in the sunlight. I walked through Strawberry fields and saw the shrine thing for John Lennon, it was rubbish, I didn't know what to expect but this wasn't really it. Somebody had made the peace sign out of roses and laid it out over the shrine, it looked awful and was way too full of people taking photographs of it. I left shortly as I didn't want to stick around and watch some absolutely shit guitarist covering some Beatles songs. I found a shaded hill to sit on and ate some lunch and watch some random party going on. An area of the park had been cordoned off and there was a DJ and everybody was going round dancing on roller skates. Some guy went around the edge, circling it constantly carrying a big speaker blasting house music really loud. I went and sat on a bench and carried on reading, it was getting late, well not late, the sun was starting to set so I took is as a sign to go back to the hostel. I had to get back, sort my things out then head downtown to watch the fireworks from the banks of the Hudson river.
