It was time to pick my mother up so Tommy and myself left to go back to my aunts house, her son Frank was on his way, he was the one who was going to be driving us all to the airport. We managed go sweet talk Frank into letting his sister and my mothers fist cousin Maria come along too. It was pretty late now, most of us were quite tired so we sat in the car not saying too much. It was really funny to see how Aunt Rosa reacts to how other people drive, she is just like my Grandmother. If somebody is going a little bit too fast she'll moan, if somebody brakes too hard she'll moan and so on, for pretty much every detail involved in driving. We got to the airport a little early as somewhere it said that the flight was getting in early, when we checked the screens it said that the flight was on time to land around 23.15 so we sat and waited in the arrivals bit. I really hate having to wait for people to get off the plane, it is so frustrating as there is no guarantee when they will actually come out. We got there about 23.00 so had a little while to wait if the screen was correct. I have had some bad experiences with waiting at airports, some I would rather not talk about and the time I had to wait for my uncle Frank at the airport in Cuba ended up in being an all day event, I was hoping that this wouldn't take quite as long.
I started noticing more English looking people coming out of the baggage claim area, and they had Virgin Atlantic bags which meant that it was my mothers plane for sure as it was the only Virgin Atlantic flight arriving tonight. More and more people came out but still not my mother or grandmother, what was taking them so long? After a burst of about twenty or so people there was nothing again for a few minutes, this kept repeating itself for the next hour. Until magically they appeared in the distance, this was it, they were going to get a surprise as they only expected Frank to be picking them up, at least I think they did. They could never have imagined that all of us would be there for them. There was a slight worry as to how we would all fit in the car with bags and all but when we saw them we knew it would be easy, they only had a small suitcase each and a small carry on bag. We all said our hello, hows it going and the like then left for the car. Everybody was tired so we went back to my aunts house as quick as we could. In the car we were just catching up with each other, Tommy and Maria fell asleep so it was pretty much just the front half of the car still awake.
