It was the day the highly anticipated world cup final, I said that I would watch it at my cousins with the family, they had a bigger TV and they got much more into their football than my uncle who seems to prefer baseball. I had some lunch then went over to watch the football. It was the first time that I walked there from my aunts house, it wasn't far but I wasn't sure of the way. I knew the way to go via the main road but I had no memory of what way we went the other night via the back streets. I had a rough idea, I knew the name of the road and the direction of their house so I set off. I ended up missing the turning to get to their house and walked right past it and ended up on another different main road. I walked in the rough direction of where I knew the house to be and ended up on the correct street. There it was, I could see the house because it has a giant flagpole with the American flag on it and also my cousins were kicking a ball around in front of their house. The game was about ten minutes off so I got a beer, took my seat and watched the pre match talk. I was so hoping that the Netherlands would win, I was definitely supporting them. The game was pretty boring, neither team looked any good, the Netherlands like always crumbled under pressure, many people say that they are the greatest team never to win the world cup. They are probably right as over the years they have had consistently good teams and some great world class player, they just never win anything. Spain on the other hand have never even been to the world cup final so they were all really excited in getting this far. They are the current European Championship winners but again, the final of that tournament in 2008 was rubbish, it ended in a 1-0 victory. Just like this world cup final, it was a really boring game to watch and it ended with Spain scoring an okay goal but it ended 1-0 and not much happened all game. If I was Spanish or Dutch it would have been very different but to be honest I wasn't that interested in who won, I just wanted to watch a good game.
