The walk from the other side to the hydroelectric plant was about one hour and a half, I smashed it and arrived in about forty minutes. On the way I bumped into some boys that were staying at my hostel in La Paz, they weren't as excited about MachuPicchu as I thought they may have been, they said it was really cloudy all day and very tiring, didn't get a good view and got very tired. Oh well, I was hoping the weather would be good for us, it was a very clear day, a little bit of clouds up in the mountains but that was it for now. The train was due to depart to Aqua Calientes, pretty much the town of MachuPicchu at the base of the mountain at 16.30, I was there at about 15.50 so got my book out and started reading. I took a few wrong turns along the way and still managed to beat the rest of the group. We were going to ride the train for about an hour into the town where we were to stay for the night, there were hot springs there, hence the name Aqua Calientes (hot water).
Our group met up after the train in a restaurant where we were going to have dinner, all included of course, we arranged to have dinner at about 20.30, the current time was about 18.00 so it gave us plenty of time to go to the hostel, sort our stuff out and then go to the hot springs for a dip and chill out.
