The whole time at the restaurant I kept an eye out for the Danes, I didn't see them anywhere, I could see the road but never saw them. I checked the watch and it was about twenty to four, we needed to get a move on, the boat was due to leave in twenty minutes and we were about twenty minutes away. The way down the south side hill was quite awkward, it didn't take too long but we could see a boat in the dock with people getting on ready to leave, by the time we got about two thirds of the way down the hill, the boat just left, I could hear the Danes laughing their heads off, I was not in a laughing mood, our boat had just left without us. Fuck! are we now stranded. At the bottom, there were lots of people around, waiting for various boats, we saw one getting ready to leave, it was now four but for some reason our boat had left at quarter to four and not four, if it had left the right time we would have easily made it. The Israeli spoke better Spanish than me so tried to explain to the boat driver what had happened, he wasn't having any of it, were we going to get off this island?
A bunch of French were there also, they didn't have tickets, neither did we really as the Danes had our tickets. We all tried to get some tickets but they were now charging $20 Bolivianos, twice the price that was originally quoted, everyone kicked up a big fuss about this, quite right too, its not right to just double the price for no reason, just so they could pocket some money for themselves, even if it was only about £1 it was the principle of it. Ten minutes of arguing the driver came over with a check list, saw our names and we got on the boat, free of charge, only right seeing as we did have a ticket and our boat left without us. The French got on after managing to barter the price down to $15 Bolivianos. Once again the boat took bloody ages, not quite as long as the one coming out but still long enough to be annoying and boring.
