I overslept quite a bit and was a little worried about the prospect that I might have to leave Philadelphia already and I haven't even done anything yet, apart from getting drunk in a bar opposite my hotel. I watched Italy crash out of the world cup by losing 3-2 to Slovakia and losing their group for the first time in my lifetime. Just in case I packed my bags and went downstairs to ask the manager if she had been able to sort me another nights stay.
All good, I paid for the next night and went to my new room, put my stuff down and relaxed in the knowledge that I was sorted for another night. As it was still quite early I went for a walk down the road, went to the Benjamin Franklyn museum as it had no entry fee and sounded quite interesting. The museum wasn't that great, I learnt some things about Mr Franklyn but nothing too important that I can actually remember. I was getting hungry and went off to find some Philly cheesesteak, I had one at Nathan's at the Miami airport and also one in the sports bar in New Orleans. I hadn't had one in Philadelphia yet and the excitement of it was starting to build. I spoke to the barman about them last night and he recommended this place on Market between 2nd and 3rd avenue called 'Campos deli' they were supposed to be the best ones in Philadelphia according to the locals. I watched a programme on the TV when I was in New Orleans about some guy who travels around sampling all the local foods in cities across America. In the show he went to Philadelphia and had some cheesesteaks, he went to two places, two rivals across the road from each other in the Italian quarter. They were 'Gino's' and 'Pat's' and according to the show were the best but when I asked locals about them all they said was that they were tourist traps and that Campos are the best.
