Rowan was being his usual funny self, he had bought this fire retardant shirt and was putting it to the test. He had a zippo lighter and lit it and moved the flame up and down his arm and nothing, not a single spark or flame, the fire retardant shirt was well and truly safe. What made this even better was the fact that the first time he showed us this trick the band in the background were playing 'ring of fire' by Johnny Cash. It was perfect, made us laugh so hard our sides began to split, he even tried it out on others too. We went from bar to bar getting drunk and drunker until none of us had any idea what we were doing. I can't even be sure what we did and where we went, I usually have a great memory of the night before but this night has slipped my mind. One thing I can say is that we went to some karaoke bar to see what was going on and if it was good or not. When we were inside Jeff had a whisky on the rocks and Rowan and myself had rum. We sat next to the stage and watched the performances. All of which were really really bad, so bad and the MC looked like such a twat with one of his trouser legs rolled up to his knee. I asked him what the idea behind that was and he made some bullshit up about it being 80's themed but I have never seen anyone do that before when dressing for an 80's themed event. He was rude in his response and kept on chatting shit and I was losing my nerve and could no longer handle it. This called for only one thing, I had finished my drink and was left with a cup full of ice. I had to throw this ice at the MC, right at him, as close to his face as I could. We exchanged words and then two bouncers appeared at my shoulders and I was forcefully removed even though I would happily have walked out on my own. They barred me, I think I must have been one of the only people to have been barred from a bar on Bourbon St in the history of New Orleans.
