Lucky for me there was a bar across the road from my hotel, it looked pretty good from the outside with loads of beer signs and a sign that really caught my attention saying that they had the most beer taps in Philadelphia, another bonus for me was that they had happy hour from 17.00-20-00. Three hours of low priced beer drinking. When I went inside they had one wall full of taps, they had so much you couldn't even see the wall. I was in paradise and I was loving it. I sat at the bar, put my money on the counter and asked the bar man for what he thinks I should drink, he asked me what style of beer I normally go for. I told him I was from England and was after an English style ale, he didn't have anything exactly the same but had so many beers I couldn't really go wrong. I pretty much had a sampler of all the beers in the bar and chose what ones I felt like drinking. He explained to me that they had just finished a world cup of beers, not really a world cup as most of the beers were from the states. Most of the beers they had left were the strong ones or really strong ones, the average beer was about 6.5% abv and most were 9%+. I was there for a long time, I hadn't even noticed that happy hour had finished and I had been paying normal price for my beer. I watched the Phillies beat the Cleveland Indians 2-1 in baseball, wasn't a good game, really boring in fact but I was in Philadelphia so why not. I was getting peckish so I ordered some pulled pork rolls. The food was good, the beer was even better and I was probably pissed off my face at this point. Many more beers later I decided to call it a night, to save my money as I was dunk and was losing control of my spending, I just wanted more and more. I wasn't tired so watched some TV and tried to do some reading and writing.
