The Peruvian border is only about twenty minutes from Copacobana, it is a strange thing. You go to the Bolivian passport control on one side, get a leaving stamp, then walk across the border, through a gate and into the Peruvian passport control to enter the country. It only took a minute or so, a lot easier and quicker than I thought it was going to be. There was still about two and a half hours to Puno from there.
