We had to rise at about four in the morning, the bus to take us there was leaving at five and we needed to get everyone on board before hand, we tried to get and early night, so didn't go out, didn't drink and went to bed around eleven. I wasn't too tired yet so I read, then two of the Danes came in, Jesper and Rune. At about three Peter strolled in drunk and noisy and for some reason that nobody understands turned the light on just to take his clothes off and get into bed, surely you don't need the light for that, maybe to put clothes on but not take them off. We never turned the light on about an hour later, we left, got in the van and waited whilst it drove around picking up the remaining few people who were also booked on the trip. Once we had everyone we set off on out seven hour drive into the beginning of the jungle and up hills towards MachuPicchu. The scenery on the drive there was absolutely stunning, the luscious green hills now had palm trees and bananas, it had all turned very tropical now. The roads were broken up every hundred metres or so because of small waterfalls coming from streams up in the mountains. The ride was like an adventure, forget the most dangerous road in the world being in Bolivia, cars don't use that any more and there are barriers on some of the edges, this road should be the new most dangerous road. No barriers to be seen, some sheer drops hundreds of metres off a cliff edge into a fast flowing rapid, very narrow, windy dirt tracks, nearer the top it gets very misty and visibility is greatly reduced to near to nothing. We stopped off at a few villages on the way to use the facilities and get some snacks and drinks, I took a walk and had a piss, I was off the bus for about two minutes and already had bites covering my legs, little did I realise that I would have a strange reaction to the bites. Back on the bus, drove for another hour or so then stopped off at a village on the outskirts of where we needed to go, we had a three course meal lined up for us so we all got out and ate for about an hour. The meal was the same old stuff, soup, then fish or meat with rice and chips and a glass of fresh fruit juice. Once we got to our final driving destination there was a surprise in store for us...
